Neutron diffraction study of the Cr_84.7Re_15.3 alloy

Measurements of the temperature dependence electrical resistance (R) and neutron powder diffraction (NPD) a Cr84.7Re15.3 alloy is reported. The magnetism originates from formation spin-density-wave (SDW) as result nesting between electron hole sheets at Fermi surface (FS). NPD revealed magnetic character SDW to be commensurate (C) with lattice Néel (TN) 560 ± 5K that correlates TN = 585 determined saddle point in R(T) results. A power law fit Iα(1−TTN)2β data gave β 0.36(1), indicating AF ordering follows 3D Heisenberg model. An additional antiferromagnetic contribution, associated Cr2O3, was observed co-exist alloy.
